Different systems for hanging and installing the Exhale ceiling fan
Whatever your type of ceiling (sloping, crawling, false ceiling, concrete, wood or BA 13) there are solutions for installing it on your ceiling or on a beam.
The ceiling support is 10 cm.
Installing an Exhale fan on a concrete ceiling
Please use the Expanding golden metal anchors provided with the Exhale fan.
Installing an Exhale fan on a sloped ceiling or a creeping ceiling (up to 45 degrees)
Please use our tiltable and extensive rod (designed for exhale). It enables compensation of sloped ceilings up to 45 degres. For more than 45 degrees angle you must use a flat plaform that will hold the fan and compensate the ceiling angle.
Installing an Exhale fan on a wooden ceiling, false / suspended ceiling or BA13 ceiling
Suspended or wooden ceiling are not as resilient as concrete ceiling. Consider that the exhale fan weights 11 kilos in total. Therefore we have two ways to install it on a wooden or suspended / BA13 ceiling: 1 – We use an intermediary small support platform (PVC or Opalin or wood or plywood). We suggest 30 x 30 cm (with 0.5 to 1 cm width)(not too thick, not too heavy). The ide ais to spread the weight of the fan on a larger surface for better resistance.
- The support platform is fixed to the ceiling with expansion anchors (IE Molly anchors).
- Don’t forget to have a small hole in the center of the platform for the electric wires to go through in order to power the motor.
2 – The second way is the safest ; It is the same as method 1 described above except that you use threaded rods (4 to 8 rods) to go reach the concrete of the ceiling
- Note that in both cases, the 30×30 intermediary support platform will be hidden by the Exhale fan (since the fan is full you will not see the intermediary support platform.
Never use less than 4 threaded rods because the Exhale motor has a high starting torque. More details here: https://www.exhale-fans.com/en/fitting-of-an-exhale-fan-on-false-ceilings-and-uneven-surfaces/
Installing Exhale on a rack (concrete, wooden, metal rack)
Bear in mind that the base to hold the Exhale motor has a total diameter of 10 cm. Il n’est pas toujours possible de percer la poutre (suivant les matériaux utilisés pour sa fabrication). First compare those 10 cm to the width of the rack. In most cases you will need to have an intermediary platform to hand from the ceiling (IE 15×15 cm or 20×20 cm) Remember that the platform will be hidden by the ceiling. Don’t forget to have a small hole in the center of the platform for the electric wires to go through in order to power the motor.
Installation on a sloping ceiling
If you have a sloping ceiling, instead of using the extendable and tiltable rod, you can choose to use the reinforcement plate with 4 threaded rods. 2 short rods & 2 long rods, to compensate for the slope. The rods will provide strength to guarantee the resistance of the whole structure, while compensating for the slope. The reinforcement plate (30×30 cm) is not visible because it is hidden by the Exhale fan which is 86 cm in diameter and solid.
Types of fasteners depending on the roof
Molly dowel: if hollow roof (plasterboard BA13, BA 19) Concrete dowel: if concrete Wood screws: if wooden ceiling (beam) Note that panelling is purely decorative and requires a fixing point behind it. It is always preferable to have a solid fixing point (the Exhale fan weighs 11.3 kg and the motor has torque).
